School of Commerce is an entity of Nanjing university. It dates back to Section of Commerce of National Central University and Section of Commerce of Jingling University. The present School of Commerce was established in May, 1988.
School of Commerce is composed of Department of Economics, Department of Business Administration, Department of International Business and Trade, Department of Accounting, Department of Finance, Economic Information Center, and Institute of Demographic Research.
Business Administration is the key discipline of Jiangsu Province. It owns a modernized laboratory of business administration.
The School of Commerce offers 3 programs for professional trainees (finance, marketing, and financial management), 7 bachelor’s degree programs (economics, the science of finance, marketing, international trade, accounting, and finance), 12 master’s degree programs (political economics, national economics, western economics, finance, business administration, MBA, international business and trade, the world economy, accounting, industrial economics, and economy of population, resources and environment), 2 doctoral degree programs (business administration, political economics), and one post-doctoral circulation station (business administration).
The School of Commerce has a faculty of 100, and 80 of them are teachers. There are 26 professors and 30 associate professors now. Over 80% teachers in the school have got master or doctoral degrees.
The School of Business has 90 doctoral students, 800 MA students (500 of them are pursuing for MBA) and 1100 BA undergraduates. Besides, the school has 1800 students receiving adult education, and 1300 students are receiving graduate course training.
In academic field, the School of Business has also gained great achievements. In 1998, the school of Businessaltogether hosted over 300 science and research projects. Besides, the school has published over 320 books and over 1600 essays and theses.
In 1993, with the rectification of then Committee of National Education, the School of Business of Nanjing University was admitted to run a MBA Class in Singapore. Till now, 7 classes of students have graduated. The teaching quality, teaching level and teaching effects have gained wide praises in Singapore. In April, 2000, with the rectification of the Ministry of Education, the School of Business has co-established in Holland “Sino-Dutch International Business Center”. Besides, the School of Business has established fixed inter-university cooperation and communication with universities in the US, Britain, Holland, Austria, Singapore and Japan.
