Requirements and Degrees
Students are awarded a Master's degree (in Business Administration or Systems Management) when they have taken thirty or more credits including specialized subjects within the standard course, submitted a Master's thesis following to necessary guidance to thesis research, and passed the thesis review and final examination.
The course can be completed at the end of any term (March, July, or November) so that each student can make a learning plan based on his or her business and personal life, and complete the course whenever they have achieved a research

Library
University of Tsukuba has a Central Library and three other libraries in Tsukuba, as well as Otsuka Library in Tokyo. Otsuka Library houses approximately 32,000 technical books and 500 academic journals and is equipped with an online search system. It also provides a request service to obtain documents from libraries in Tsukuba and other universities. For the convenience of students of the evening graduate school, the library counter is open during evening hours as shown below, and the reading room is available daily until 23:00.

The Master of Public Administration program has 3 sequential stages: 1) the Core Courses, 2) Elective Courses, and 3) Practicum or Special Project or Thesis. All students are recommended to complete the core requirements before taking the qualifying examination or courses in the elective category. All pre-service students must take PA598 as an elective.
To qualify for a Master Degree, students must satisfactorily complete a minimum of 54 credit hours. All students must do the following:
Foundation courses (9 credits)
Core and elective courses (33 credits)
Thereafter, there are two ways to fulfill the required 54 credit hours of course work. Students may choose between:
Doing additional courses and a final Comprehensive Examination; or
Preparing a research proposal, doing the proposed research and writing thesis

This course is an introductory course in statistics for students who are going to study Economnics, Management Sciences and Finance. We shall discuss two aspects of statistics, that is, the descriptive statistics and the theoretical statistics at the introductory level. In the first part major economic data and governmental statistics in Japan, and their use are discussed. In the second part the introductory probability and mathmatical methods are discussed. We shall try to illustrate real lif examples in economics, management sciences and finance.

Master Program
Starting from the 2007 academic year, prospective candidates who have successfully passed the preliminary examination by the Japanese Embassy/Consulate are required to obtain a letter of acceptance from their potential supervisors (please see more details here)
The Graduate School of Economics, Kyoto University, offers a 2-year master program, leading to the degree MA in Economics. Teaching and supervision are conducted in Japanese. Only a limited number of courses are taught in English.
Within the master program, there are two subprograms as follows:
(1) Economics subprogram (in Japanese, “Hakase course”)
(2) Business/ Management subprogram (in Japanese, “Business Kagaku course”)

Econometrics is the branch of economics that formulates statistical methodology for use in analyzing economic data. Consequently, the objective of this course is to prepare students for basic empirical work in economics. In particular, topics will include multiple regression analysis, statistical inference and hypothesis testing, functional form specification, time series models, and limited dependent variable models. Students will have the opportunity to use actual economic data to test economic theories.

A.Introductory Quantitative Requirements
Unless they have clearly demonstrated sufficient knowledge, entering PhD students are required to take the following two mathematics-oriented courses in the first semester of study.
ECON 510 Mathematics for Business and Economics; and
ISMT 581 Introduction to Probability
The credits earned from ECON 510 and ISMT 581 are not counted toward the graduation requirements.
B.General Management Requirements
Except for students on the PhD program in Economics, students who do not have an MBA or equivalent are required to take at least three of the following MBA-level courses. Students with a BBA degree could seek course exemptions from the PhD Director if they have

Requirement
Regular attendance of courses is required. Methods of assessment for each course, including examinations, individual assignments, class participation and group projects, vary according to the needs of individual courses. Faculty generally assigns High Pass (HP), Pass (P), Low Pass (LP) or Unsatisfactory (U) as grades to students.
Participants are required to complete 30 credits including 12 core courses (24 credits) and 4 pre-selected electives (6 credits). Upon successful completion of the program, participants are awarded an Executive Master of Business Administration degree by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
