General Information
This course provides students with the legal background necessary to comply with the regulatory requirements in banking and finance. It covers the legal aspects of corporate governance, the legal framework of banking and finance, and financial products, including derivatives. This course also provides students with background on market access in financial services, as China embarks on liberalization of its financial markets as a member of the WTO.

Introduce students to basic principles of business law. The focus is on general principles, both in China and internationally, more than on specific statutes and regulations. Coverage of specific topics will be broad rather than deep. By the end of the course, students should be able to:

• Recognize the existence of a number of legal issues in everyday business transactions;
• Understand the basic legal principles governing the resolution of those issues;
• Know when professional legal assistance will be useful;

Offered in collaboration with the Department of Law, BBA(Law)/LLB is a five-year*, double-degree programme designed for students who are interested in the dynamic worlds of business administration and the legal profession.
