Business Communications
The Communications course is designed to promote the skills and strategies that are necessary for MBA and E-business students to communicate effectively in business management roles. In this class, we will examine and practice case analysis, presentation skills, and critical writing through a variety of written and videotaped assignments. Students will be expected to critically analyze cases selected from the text and effectively apply the communication skills covered in the class to resolve conflicts. Throughout the class, students will receive feedback from the professor, peers, and self-analysis in an effort to focus attention on ways to improve individual communication. Strategic topics include overcoming barriers to communication, channel choice, audience analysis, business ethics, crisis management, giving and receiving feedback, and communicating leadership.

The course provides a comprehensive discussion of the salient aspects of the Hong Kong economy. Topics include Hong Kong’s national income accounting and economic development, the monetary system and exchange rate regime, the financial system, public finance and fiscal policy, external trade and foreign investment, economic relations with the Mainland, the labour market and employment, the property market and housing policy, regulation of public utilities and competition policy, industrial development and policy, and income distribution. Emphasis will be given to both economic analysis and institutional arrangements of the major economic sectors and related policies. Attention will be given to topics of recent public concern.

The course adopts a modern approach to the topic of financial statements analysis. Although some attention is devoted to the mechanics of dissecting financial statements, the primary emphasis lies on development of an understanding of the market environment in which financial information is used.

1. Based on the strong teaching and research faculty of RBS
As one of main bases of MBA education in China, RBS has strong teaching and research strength, a library with enormous books and complete specialized materials, advanced computer lab, multimedia network classrooms, a CAD lab, compact disc information searching center, and a video room.

2. Unique premium MBA curriculum
The MBA education at RBS is the embodiment of the research on management theory and corporate practice over half a century. As the pioneer in developing on-line education management system in China, RBS has an internationally advanced Blackboard Learning System (BB). With its powerful functions such as on-line course registration, scoring, classroom discussion, learning material distribution, question answering by teachers, teaching affairs management, the BB system has provided a powerful on-line platform for interactions between teachers and students, and between students; and has substantially enhanced the teaching management efficiency.

5. The colorful secondary classroom
RBS has invited senior visiting scholars, the American Fulbright and other foreign teachers to participate in the MBA classroom teaching, and has invited managers of foreign transnational corporations in China and domestic enterprise managers and scholars to give lectures.

6. International exchange activities
RBS regularly send outstanding MBA students on exchange visits to schools in the U.S. A. and Europe. Since 2000, we have signed graduate exchange and study agreements with The University of Texas, San Antonio (the U.S.), the School of Business (EUROMED MARSEILLE Ecole De Management, France), and the School of Business (Aarhus School of Business, Danmark), and have regularly sent MBA students on exchange visits to the above-mentioned schools.
